Review: Catch 22 – Dinosaur Sounds

It bugs me how much the fans dislike this record. It’s barely ska but it’s exciting and diverse. Each track has a different sound, and it’s got a lot of blues/jazz influences throughout. What’s not to like? Dinosaur Sounds is one of my favorite records ever. I doubt I’ll ever find anyone who agrees.

How can you not love the brass intro bursting on in Rocky? Argh, everything on here is so good. Ska fans are so close minded. They won’t accept it if it’s not 100% ska and has different genre influences. Bands change. Do you want Keasbey Nights clones forever more? I’m sure some fans would love that. I certainly wouldn’t. I accept change. It can be good and it can be bad, and I like this particular change. Feel free to shoot me for that, but I do. I LOVE this particular change, in fact.

I’m sure I’ll receive a lot of hate for this comment in particular, but I MUCH prefer the vocalist on this record. His voice especially goes well with the sound of the album, being a lot more gentle and soulful than the other guy’s. No I never hated the other guy’s voice, but I still think this one is a lot better.
