Britney Spears: 3…
You know what? I’ve been finding myself tapping my crusty feet to Britney Spears’ new single, ‘3‘. When I first heard it, I wasn’t sure it was her, but I suspected it was. It’s a nice song. Catchy. Different to what I’m used to hearing from her. She doesn’t sound as nasally as she usually does. Admittedly, I wouldn’t go out and buy the single but if I heard it on the radio, I’d turn it up.
Now, the video for ‘3′, well it’s Britney. Britney is as Britney does. I’m used to how she chooses to express herself. However, I don’t like the way she visually sings her L’s - I never have. She does this thing with her tongue that I find really irritating and she does it in most of her videos. She overemphasises her L’s like she doesn’t have enough room in her mouth to pronounce it so she has to whip her tongue right out to make room. ‘3′ is the video where she seems to do it the frikkin most. Haven’t counted how many times and I don’t think I will (I love myself too much), but it’s irritating. Period. I therefore plan on sticking to the listening more than the watching. I’m probably alone in my irritation, but I’m one of those people that can’t stand it when the tap’s dripping. Little things irritate me while most big things cry for my attention and I’m like “did you just say something, big thing? I didn’t think so.”
I do have a favourite ‘3′ part though: when she gets to the intermission (is that what they call it? It’s not a verse, but it’s not a chorus either. Intermission???). Anyway, when she gets to that part, she says “or three …or four” or something like that, but the look on her face is a mixture of minx, playfulness and sexual freedom. It was a brief look, but yeah, I liked it. So I guess the next time they show the video on TV, I’ll have to close my eyes all the way up to that bit, open them, then close them again. Favourite bit seen. Irritating bits totally avoided. That’s what I call a plan, Monsieur Poirot.
(p.s.: believe it or not, as God is my witness, guess what’s just playing on the radio!)
