U2 – Rattle and Hum DVD

While on tour in the US for the Joshua Tree, the tour that made the band the global phenomenon they have been for twenty years, U2 recorded live album Rattle and Hum. If you are a fan of the band or even already have this album, you should think about getting the DVD version of the album.
The music and live performances are punctuated by black and white interviews and “backstage” style footage of the band, and gives an interesting insight into the personality of the band just as they were becoming as big as they were about to become, and before they gathered any pretensions which are rife in their interviews now.
The DVD features powerful performances of songs available on CD release, while also giving us live performonces of songs not available on the CD release. One such is the angry, aggressive, Sunday Bloody Sunday, which Bono says he didn’t want on the DVD let alone the CD (which it indeed was left off) due to the fact that many would not understand where the anger was coming from. This is the band at their most honest and just entering the height of their stadium notoriety., and a great one for fans to get.
