Pussycat Dolls Dominated Manila

The most famous girl group of the moment, Pussycat Dolls, held a concert in Manila, Philippines last June 11. People trooped over to the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on the said night, eager to hear their favorite pop anthems belted out by the Dolls: “Don’t Cha,” “Buttons,” “Stick With You,” “When I Grow Up,” “I Hate This Part,” and from the soundtrack of award-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, “Jai Ho.”

The girls minus Jessica Sutta, who is nursing a fractured rib, delivered a great performance. They sang their famous tunes along with several unreleased tracks from their latest album, and even hosted a dance contest onstage.

The Filipinos were especially excited to see and hear Filipina Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger perform. Nicole warmed the hearts of her Filipino fans when she said she felt that she belonged there. She gave them a heartfelt, “Mahal ko kayo!” (“I love you all!”)

Even though the concert has been the talk of the town for the past few weeks, tickets did not sell out for the event. This is believed to be a consequence of the recent slump in the economy.
