4/22/09 Performance in Denver, Colorado at the Three Kings Tavern * 60 S Broadway * Denver, CO 80209 *
A special treat, opening before Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dolls was “The Voodoo Organist”. Inspired by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, the Cramps, Nick Cave, and Tom Waits – Scott Wexton, a spectacular travelling sideshow preacher / road warrior spinning the tunes of love, lust, and murder. Ranging from heavy rock, frantic post punk disco, industrial jazz, goth, seedy soul, garage rock, and circus-beat. Scott started out as a goth industrialist from Detroit whose band had opened for Nine Inch Nails in the 1990′s. He’s been playing the organ ever since. As he settled in Los Angeles, he became known as the “Voodoo Organist”. Now a two-man duet with drummer Robin Kennon they take the world on with the bizarre playing well over 500 shows coast to coast in the United States alone. His songs have been featured in “Return of the Living Dead IV” and “100 Tears”. Most excellent of a performance, the band is quite talented. Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5.
