“Live”
“Live” is one of my favorite American alternative bands. Their sound is unique and they have a nice way of balancing between vocals and instruments, no matter the song. I love their lyrics because many of them are poetic in nature and definitely thought-provoking. I often wonder what was in the writer’s head as they wrote the songs.
A good example of their thought-provoking lyrics is in the last verse of the song “Iris”…
“I liked the way my hand looked on your head
in the presence of my struggle
but the beauty of this vision alone I can’t shake from my tree just yet
it keeps invading all my private moments
listen to me now”
The group is from York, Pennsylvania and was formed in the mid-80’s. The band’s original name was “Public Affection” and started out with only three members. Ed Kowalczyk was the forth member to join, auditioning as a guitarist, but became the lead vocalist. Chad Taylor plays guitar. Patrick Dahlheimer plays bass and Chad Gracey plays drums and percussion.
“Live” may be best known for their album “Throwing Copper”, which includes the songs “Lightning Crashes”, “All Over You” and “I Alone”. The album sold more than eight million copies. The band is said to be a spiritual band and all about the music and spreading love and peace on their tours.
